Inside Llewyn Davis
It’s only February, and already this year I am fed up with films which focus on characters who are not obviously likeable, but which also present no reason for me to be interested in their story.
I can’t help thinking that if poor miserable Llewyn had been just a tad more friendly, then he might have been more successful in making the living he thinks the world owes him. He smiled once in the whole film, and that was in irony.
I like the idea of looking at the nearly-men rather than the roaring successes, and the cultural context was really interesting. But overall I just couldn’t warm to the characters, and ended up feeling Outside rather than Inside Llewyn Davis.
Great soundtrack, though.
