The Rover

Guy Pearce is one of those actors whose films I will always make a point of seeing, having admired him for quite some time. And Robert Pattinson may well soon be in this category too. With Cosmopolis and now The Rover, he is proving that there is much more to him than a sparkly vampire (and I actually like him in the Twilight series of films too).

The two are thrown together in a sparsely populated Australian outback in search of Pearce’s car, which has been stolen by Pattinson’s brother.

It’s only at the very end that we discover why the car is so important to Pearce, and yet there is always a sense that he is doing bad things for good reasons.

A slow-paced film, not heavy on action or explanation, but worth visiting.
